The front of the this magnificent desk is made of figured Claro Walnut panels, bookmatched and crotch feathered, each angled, or coopered, to form a gentle curve. The 2 sides are also bookmatched Claro Walnut. Inset into the corners are 4 original bronze castings of Eland Horns by sculptor Bret Overturf. The desk top is black walnut with 3 inlayed panels of Brazillian granite. It overhangs the desk 6" in the front and 1" in the back and sides. In the back there are 7 solid oak drawers with figured Walnut fronts and dovetailed joints: 2 file drawers, four 4" drawers, and a pencil drawer in the middle. The 2 pull out writing platforms tuck away under the desk top. |
